David Anderson to Speak at OAC Public Lecture
February 23, 2007
The OAC Public Lecture series continues on Wednesday, February 28, as the Honourable David Anderson, former federal environment minister and recently named director of the new Guelph Institute for the Environment, speaks on the challenges of linking science and public policy. The lecture will be held in the OVC Lifetime Learning Centre (OVC 1714), and will begin at 5:30 p.m.
First elected to Ottawa in 1968, Anderson served as a cabinet minister in both the Chrétien and Martin governments. During his years in office, Parliament passed the Species-at-Risk Act and Canada ratified the Kyoto Protocol to the Rio Convention on Climate Change.
This lecture also marks the opening of Guelph’s new environment institute, which will link critical research on water, food, health and the environment, and connect University research with policy-makers at all three levels of government.
