OAC Public Lecture to Examine Pillars and Pitfalls of International Development Projects
January 16, 2007
The Winter 2007 session of OAC’s public lecture series begins on Wednesday, January 24 with an analysis of the conditions and features required to achieve success in international development efforts.
Each year, donors and international financing institutions pour billions of dollars into development projects. According to Lucia Frick, international development specialist and feature speaker for the evening, few of these initiatives end up achieving the expected results and/or having the desired impact. Many articles have been written, conferences and workshops held, and debates conducted on how to improve their chances of success. In this presentation, Frick will draw on her practical first-hand experience to add some concrete elements to that discussion, reflecting on specific conditions and features that can work for or against the success of a development project.
