30th Annual Organic Conference January 27-30

January 17, 2011

The 30th Annual Guelph Organic Conference will run January 27 to 30 at the University of Guelph.

Generation Organic is the theme of this year's event, which features a keynote address by Tom Manley of Homestead Organics, along with his father, Murray, and son Yannick. Their talk, entitled "Our Common Thread: Organic Food Through the Generations," will be presented January 29 at 9:15 am in Rozanski Hall.

Started three decades ago by graduate students as an afternoon seminar, the conference and organic trade show has grown to attract some 2,000 people to campus. This year, visitors can attend seminars and workshops on organic branding and marketing, crop planning, edible weeds and forest gardening, as well as view exhibits by organic producers, retailers, consumers, researchers and students. Other conference highlights include an organic expo-tasting fair with more than 150 exhibitors on Saturday and Sunday. It is free and open to the public.
